Additional Information About the MLPC:
The Medical-Legal Partnership for Children (MLPC) is a powerful collaboration among pediatric clinicians, social workers, and attorneys designed to address the unmet legal needs of patients and families. While the program model has been implemented in over 30 states and 160 hospitals and clinics, the program in Seattle is pioneering the first partnership of this kind in the Pacific Northwest. The program primarily serves children and families from Odessa Brown Children's Clinic and Harborview Children and Teens' Clinic. Both clinics are Seattle-based and are dedicated to providing comprehensive health services to poor and un/under-insured children. Limited services are also provided to staff and families at Seattle Children's. The primary avenues by which MLPC addresses unmet legal needs include:
1. Training health care workers and other stakeholders on advocacy issues effecting vulnerable families, enabling this constituent to identify potential legal issues and referrals;
2. Providing case consultation to providers and direct legal services to pediatric patient-families, up to and including full court representation when indicated; and,
3. Participating in systemic advocacy efforts that promote child health and well-being.
At Seattle Children's, we believe in accountability, respect and teamwork - not only with patients and their families, but also with each other. If you share these principles, we encourage you to join us. We offer excellent pay and benefits, retirement plans, opportunities for career advancement, paid training days, and so much more.
