Northwest Justice Project, Pasco, WA - Bilingual Staff Attorney

The Northwest Justice Project (NJP) is a publicly funded not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to secure justice through high quality legal advocacy for low income persons in Washington. With over 100 attorneys working in 17 offices located throughout the state, NJP is the largest provider of civil legal aid in Washington. NJP is seeking applications for a staff attorney to work in our Walla Walla office satellite location in Pasco serving Benton and Franklin counties in the southeastern Tri-Cities region of Washington. Southeastern Washington affords rich cultural and recreational opportunities, as well as being one of the state's premier wine regions.

NJP seeks an attorney with strong advocacy skills, with interest and experience in working to promote the long-term well-being of low-income individuals, families and communities. Current residents of rural or semi-rural Washington communities, or those with a desire to live in a rural community, are encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Member of the Washington Bar, a state bar to which Washington could grant reciprocity, or
willing and able to take next bar exam
· Demonstrated experience in the relevant areas of law that impact low-income persons,
including housing, employment, family and public benefits
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Demonstrated competence in working with diverse clients and client communities, including
clients with developmental disabilities and/or comparable cognitive impairments
· Commitment to providing civil legal services to the poor
· Ability to collaborate effectively with other advocates and client groups
· Willingness to live in the Tri-cities and ability to travel within the two-county service area
· Spanish language fluency strongly preferred

SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary is dependent on experience. NJP offers an attractive benefits package, including medical, dental and disability coverage in addition to a law school loan forgiveness program for eligible employees.
